Thetford Select Board Meeting


October 11, 2004


PRESENT: Mike Brown, Rick Barrows, Mary Spata, Marilyn Cook (clerk)

GUESTS: Doug Stone- Road Foreman, Allison Rogers- Reporter for Connecticut Valley Spectator


The meeting was called to order at 6:40 pm by Mike Brown.


Doug Stone reported that the road crew is hauling sand for the winter supply. The intersection of Stevens Rd. and Quail John Rd. continues to be a concern. Mr. Stone will discuss with Mark McMahon. He will also talk with Mr. McMahon about the dead trees that need to be cut at the recycling center. Mr. Stone has received estimates for a new truck and a truck bed.


Move to recess at 7:00 pm for public meeting to meet a candidate for the police chief position. (Barrows/Spata) Unanimous.


Doug Stone and Marilyn Cook left the meeting at 7:00 pm.


8:10 p.m. Motion to continue Selectboard Meeting (Brown/Barrows) unanimous.


Motion to enter Executive Session regarding personnel (Brown/Barrows) unanimous.

9:15 Motion to end Executive Session with no decisions and no actions

(Barrows/Spata) unanimous.

Selectboard noted letter of concern from Chapmans and a Police Report they filed regarding interactions with neighbor.


Selectboard agreed to street lighting plan for Tucker Hill Road as recommended by Energy Committee based on survey of residents in that area. Light by Johnson house will be restored and a secomd light will be placed closer to Rte. 113.


Selectboard reviewed need for lights in parking area at Town Hall.


Motion to accept check warrant #37.1 (general) in the amount of $32,620.33, #36.3 (general) in the amount of $2,988.40, #36.1 (general) in the amount of $2,089.69, and #36.2 (general) in the amount of $2,757.11. (McMahon/Spata) unanimous.

Mike Brown attended Thetford Academy Master Facilities Planning Tour and

Municipal Officers Management Services Training sponsored by UVM.


Motion to adjourn at 10:40 p.m. (Spata/Brown) unanimous.
